How It Works — Step-by-Step
Step 1: Enter Learning Mode
- Set the gearshift lever to "P" (Park).
- Turn the ignition switch to "ON" (do not start the engine).
- Navigate to the tire pressure display screen using your DIC (Driver Information Center).
- When the DIC shows "Press Set/Ctrl to re-learn", press the Set/Ctrl button.
- The turn signal will flash for 3 seconds and the horn will beep twice — you are now in learning mode.
Step 2: Read Tire Pressure Sensor Information
- Begin at the front-left wheel.
- Hold the EL-50448 antenna against the valve stem area, close to the tire sidewall rim.
- Press the start switch on the tool.
- A single horn beep confirms successful sensor reading.
Step 3: Repeat for Remaining Wheels
- Repeat Step 2 for the front-right, rear-right, and rear-left wheels in order.
- When all four sensors are learned, the turn signal will flash for 3 seconds and the horn will beep twice to confirm completion.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What vehicles is the EL-50448 TPMS reset tool compatible with?
A: The EL-50448 is compatible with most GM-platform vehicles equipped with a 315 MHz or 433 MHz TPMS system, including Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, GMC, Opel, Vauxhall, Holden, Saab, Hummer, Pontiac, Saturn, and Daewoo models from approximately 2001 through 2014+. Always verify your specific vehicle year and VIN to confirm compatibility before use.
Q: When do I need to perform a TPMS sensor re-learn procedure?
A: A TPMS Sensor Re-Learn Procedure is required after tire rotations, replacement of one or more tire pressure sensors, or replacement of the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Module. Without re-learning, your vehicle's body control module won't correctly track which sensor is in which wheel position, causing TPMS warning lights or inaccurate readings.
Q: Does the EL-50448 come with batteries or a charger?
A: No. The package includes only the EL-50448 TPMS reset tool itself. Batteries and a charger are not included and must be purchased separately.
Q: Do I need special software or a computer to use this TPMS reset tool?
A: No special software or computer is required. The EL-50448 is a standalone handheld tool. Simply follow the 3-step process: enter learn mode via your vehicle's DIC, hold the tool against each tire's valve stem, and press the start button. The vehicle's horn will confirm each successful sensor read.
Q: Will the EL-50448 work on 2014 GM models?
A: Yes. The EL-50448 OEC-T5 is updated to work on 2014 GM models in addition to earlier model years dating back to 2001.
