Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does this EPB caliper motor release tool work without a diagnostic computer or OBD scanner?
A: Yes! That's the key advantage of this tool. The Universal 12V/24V EPB Motor Release Tool requires no computer, software, or OBD connection. The built-in bidirectional control switch lets you manually control forward and reverse motor rotation with a simple flip, making it ideal for emergency service and routine brake maintenance.
Q: Which vehicles and motors is this tool compatible with?
A: This tool is designed to work with the vast majority of 12V passenger car and 24V truck/bus DC motors, including electronic parking brake (EPB) calipers, window lift regulators, windshield wiper motors, cabin blower motors, tailgate actuators, and lift pumps. Always verify your motor's connector type before use.
Q: How long can I continuously run the motor during testing?
A: For 12V motors, continuous power-on testing should not exceed 30 seconds. For 24V motors, keep tests within 15 seconds to prevent overheating. If additional testing is needed, allow the tool to cool down before resuming. This ensures the longevity of both the tool and the motor being tested.
Q: Is there protection if I accidentally connect the battery clips in reverse?
A: Yes. The tool features a reverse connection protection design. However, it is always best practice to connect the red alligator clip to the positive (+) terminal and the black clip to the negative (−) terminal to ensure safe and reliable operation.
